Learn outside the classroom

As a CBS student, you will have access to exceptional opportunities from studying abroad to learning in cutting-edge interactive classrooms.

Get involved

Whether your interested in developing as a student leader, representing the college on the student board or addressing health disparities, there's a CBS student group for you. The opportunities for student engagement at the University of Minnesota are practically endless.

Spend time in the field

Do you like to get your hands dirty? Then spending time at one of the college's research stations may be just the thing for you. Get involved in research at Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve, a world-renowned nature preserve that serves as a site for long-term research experiments in ecology, or Itasca Biological Station and Laboratories, a research and teaching field station located at the headwaters of the Mississippi River, where three biomes converge.

Spend a month, semester, or year studying with educators and scientists around the world. CBS students have studied health care in Kenya, marine biology in Australia, plant ecology in Venezuela, and rain forest ecology in Costa Rica. Or satisfy your curiosity about British history with a learn abroad experience in the United Kingdon. The possibilities are wide open. Learning abroad opportunities.
