Transfer student checklist

Once you’ve been accepted, what do you do?

NOTE: This checklist is for students transferring to the University of Minnesota from other higher educational institutions. This checklist is not applicable to students transferring within the U of M system.

  1. Send in your confirmation fee after admission to CBS in order to receive important mailings and access Online Orientation.
  2. Initiate your Student Internet Account online at https://www.umn.edu/initiate and begin checking your U of M email account.
  3. Update your mailing address online if different from the one listed on your application for admission.
  4. Complete online orientation  (requires completion of items 1 & 2 above).
  5. Select an on-campus college meeting date by following the directions within online orientation or by going directly to the website provided in the orientation letter. Space is limited and sessions fill on a first-come-first-served basis. Learn more about transfer student orientation.
  6. Complete our online CBS pre-orientation survey. The survey is used by your advisor to prepare additional orientation materials and verify the accuracy of your transfer credits, so please complete it as soon as possible.
