Transfer student checklist
Once you’ve been accepted, what do you do?
NOTE: This checklist is for students transferring to the University of Minnesota from other higher educational institutions. This checklist is not applicable to students transferring within the U of M system.
- Send in your confirmation fee after admission to CBS in order to receive important mailings and access Online Orientation.
- Initiate your Student Internet Account online at https://www.umn.edu/initiate and begin checking your U of M email account.
- Update your mailing address online if different from the one listed on your application for admission.
- Complete online orientation (requires completion of items 1 & 2 above).
- Select an on-campus college meeting date by following the directions within online orientation or by going directly to the website provided in the orientation letter. Space is limited and sessions fill on a first-come-first-served basis. Learn more about transfer student orientation.
- Complete our online CBS pre-orientation survey. The survey is used by your advisor to prepare additional orientation materials and verify the accuracy of your transfer credits, so please complete it as soon as possible.

Note: Students must have their AP/IB results sent directly to the University of Minnesota Office of Admissions to receive credit.
Note: CBS majors do not include a language requirement. Students may choose to take a language as an elective.
