CBS Student Volunteer Award

Amount

Two $500 awards will be given out in late spring 2009.

Selection criteria

  1. Current undergraduate (including all transfer students to CBS) in the College of Biological Sciences with a minimum of 30 credits and a maximum of 90 credits.
  2. Minimum GPA of 2.5
  3. To apply, students should submit a letter no longer than 3 pages and should provide examples of volunteerism and leadership activities. The letter should describe volunteer activities and Leadership activities (pre-college, CBS Clubs, CBS Ambassador, CBS Picnic volunteer and other University related activities, as well as community activities). Please include references and contact information for your volunteer organizations. Letters are due April 15, 2009. The recipients of this award will be required to attend the Donor Recognition and Appreciation Dinner on October 15, 2009 at McNamara Alumni Center.

Selection committee and process

The committee will include the Past President of the Biological Sciences Alumni Society (BSAS), member at large of BSAS, CBS Alumni Relations Coordinator, and a representative from Student Services. The committee will review applicants, verify references and GPA, and make recommendations for approval to CBS Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies.
