Biol 1301: Becoming a reflective leader (1 credit)
Biol 1301 is a special course for Deans’ Scholars, allowing you to learn more about yourself and to explore what constitutes effective leadership. During this course, you reflect on your values and develop a leadership philosophy.

NOL study group leadership
Engage in hands-on leadership immediately fall semester by facilitating a study group of your peers as part of Nature of Life.

Personal development

Mentor program
As a Deans’ Scholars student, you have the opportunity to build relationships with your first-year peers and an experienced peer mentor as you navigate through your first semester. Groups of five first-year students are paired with an upperclass CBS peer mentor. You meet regularly with your peer mentor group during fall semester and perform a collaborative service project in the spring.

Cohort seminars
Deans’ Scholars participate in leadership and personal development seminars once per semester. During these seminars, University and community leaders discuss their paths to success and their thoughts on the relationship between service and leadership.

Service

Service project
Recognizing service and community involvement as an invaluable part of the undergraduate experience, as a Deans’ Scholars student you have the opportunity to demonstrate your leadership to fulfill a community need. During spring semester, your peer mentor group completes a service project to allow you to apply your learning to solve real-life problems and become an active contributor to your community.
