Meet with an advisor

To schedule an appointment

• Call the CBS Student Services Office at 612-624-9717 and ask to schedule an appointment with your adviser.

• Be prepared to briefly tell the receptionist what you would like to discuss during your meeting (e.g., class scheduling, graduation, etc.)

• After scheduling your appointment, read the guidelines for preparing for an appointment.
• Remember, advisers’ schedules fill-up quickly mid-October through November and mid-March through April with students preparing for registration. It is a good idea to call 2–3 weeks in advance of the date you would like for your appointment.

Drop-in advising

The College of Biological Sciences (CBS) students or prospective CBS students are welcome to utilize our drop-in advising hours. Drop-in advising is limited to a 10 to 15 minute session. Examples of issues for drop-in advising include:

• Quick questions about academic requirements
• Review of class schedule, but not long-term planning
• Questions for U of M students wanting to transfer into CBS
• APAS questions
• Short questions and answers
• Campus referrals
• One-time-only drop processing
