Meet with an advisor
To schedule an appointment
- Call the CBS Student Services Office at 612-624-9717 and ask to schedule an appointment with your adviser
- Be prepared to briefly tell the receptionist what you would like to discuss during your meeting (e.g., class scheduling, graduation, etc.)
- After scheduling your appointment, read the guidelines for preparing for an appointment
- Remember, advisers’ schedules fill-up quickly mid-October through November and mid-March through April with students preparing for registration. It is a good idea to call 2–3 weeks in advance of the date you would like for your appointment.
Drop-in advising
The College of Biological Sciences (CBS) students or prospective CBS students are welcome to utilize our drop-in advising hours. Drop-in advising is limited to a 10 to 15 minute session. Examples of issues for drop-in advising include:
- Quick questions about academic requirements
- Review of class schedule, but not long-term planning
- Questions for U of M students wanting to transfer into CBS
- APAS questions
- Short questions and answers
- Campus referrals
- One-time-only drop processing
Drop-in advising hours
Beginning August 29, CBS Student Services offers drop-in advising on a first-come, first-served basis, Monday–Friday from 1–4 p.m. in 229 Snyder Hall. Drop-in advising is limited to 10–15 minute sessions. Example drop-in topics include questions about your class schedule, APAS, campus referrals, and quick questions about academic requirements.
