About the CGC
The Caenorhabditis Genetics Center (CGC) is supported by the National Institutes of Health - Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (P40 OD010440). The CGC has been in operation since 1978, first at the University of Missouri, Columbia and since 1992 at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
Ann Rougvie is the director; Aric Daul is the curator. The CGC collects, maintains, and distributes stocks of C. elegans.
Canadian Users: Due to the cold weather, we highly recommend you provide a Fedex account number during the months of December through February. It may be entered in the Comments section while placing your order.
Please note: The National Institutes of Health mandates that CGC recovers a portion of our costs by charging fees for services.
All users (e.g. a Laboratory or Company) will be charged an annual account fee of $25. In addition, all users shall pay a flat fee per strain. In the case of academic/non-profit organizations, a $7.00 fee per strain shall be paid by the recipient. For commercial organizations, a $100.00 fee per strain shall be paid by the recipient.
Although all users of the collection are expected to pay their fees, fees for use in academic research may be waived under certain circumstances. If stocks will be used for academic research and you do not have grant or institutional funds (including start-up) with which to pay your fees, a waiver may be granted. To be considered for a waiver, submit your strain request together with a brief explanation of your situation and justification of the request to the CGC Director (Rougvie@umn.edu).
System maintenance occurs on Wednesday mornings (Central Daylight Time). If you experience difficulties placing an order during this time, please try again later in the day.
