Courses

The Department of Plant Biology is dedicated to exemplary education at all levels: undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education. The Department is committed to excellence in the classroom, in the laboratory, and in field courses. Because the Department transects all of biology, from molecules to ecosystems, faculty members participate in courses that cover the entire field of biology. These courses range from freshman seminars and introductory biology to molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, genomics, developmental biology, evolution, ecology, population biology, and bioinformatics.

The Department's commitment to exemplary education is well documented. Five current faculty members have received the Horace T. Morse-Alumni Award for Outstanding Contributions to Undergraduate Education. Four faculty have received the Stanley Dagley-Samuel Kirkwood Undergraduate Education Award, and Iris Charvat is one of three CBS faculty to be honored with a John Tate Advising Award.
