Welcome to the College of Biological Sciences. I’m glad you’ve stopped by our Web site for a visit, and hope you’ll take a few moments to explore these pages and learn more about us.

Whether you are a prospective student, alumnus or friend, a member of the biotechnology industry, a middle school science teacher, or colleague from another university, there’s something here for you.

CBS research spans molecules to ecosystems and laboratories to field sites from the Twin Cities to northern Minnesota. Findings are being applied to improve human health, make crops more productive, develop renewable resources, and manage global ecosystems.

Faculty conduct research in the best settings available, from laboratories in the new $20 million Cargill Building for Microbial and Plant Genomics to the world-renowned Cedar Creek Natural History Area, where north America’s three great biomes converge to create an ideal site for ecology experiments.

CBS is one of few colleges in the nation devoted exclusively to the biological sciences. Over the past few years we have reorganized and added new faculty and facilities to better take advantage of this wonderful era of discovery in biology.

For more information, please see our CBS Facts, which provides lots of facts and figures about the College of Biological Sciences, or refer back to the menu on our Home page.

I hope you’ll find everything that you are looking for. If not, please send an e-mail to Peggy Rinard, Communications Director, at rinar001@umn.edu. She will be glad to help you.

You are also welcome to contact me with any questions.
