Administration Guide

Logging In To Alder

  • Navigate, with your Web Browser, to the CBS Home Page at: http://www.cbs.umn.edu
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the ‘Alder Administration’ link.
  • Present your ID and password to the login screen and click on the ‘Login’ button.
  • You will see three buttons in the Alder administration page: ‘Logoff’, ‘Directory Admin’, ‘Edit Profile’.
  • Click on the ‘Directory Admin’ button to gain access to the CBS Directory administration screen.

Editing an Existing Entry

  • Navigate to the CBS Directory entry that needs to be updated using the search field or the quick index letters.
  • Click on the corredsponding ‘Edit’ link.
  • Modify any of the fields presented on the Edit Screen.
  • After reviewing the changes and when ready to commit them to the database, click on the ‘Submit Changes To Existing Entry’ button.
  • The Edit Screen will return and present the data that is extracted from the database. If the data is correct return to the Directory Paging/Summary Screen by clicking on the ‘Return to List’ button. If more changes are required, change the corresponding fields and resubmit.

Adding a New Entry

  • Navigate to the bottom of the Paging/Summary Screen.
  • Click on the ‘Add New Entry’ button.
  • Key in the values associated with the new entry.
  • After reviewing the changes and when ready to commit them to the database, click on the ‘Add New’ button.
  • The Edit Screen will return and present the data that is extracted from the database. If the data is correct return to the Directory Paging/Summary Screen by clicking on the ‘Return to List’ button. If more changes are required, change the corresponding fields and resubmit.

Deleting an Existing Entry

  • Navigate to the CBS Directory entry that needs to be Deleted by using the search field or the quick index letters.
  • Click on the corresponding checkbox in the ‘Delete’ column (more than one can be selected).
  • Navigate to the bottom of the Paging/Summary Screen.
  • Click on the ‘Delete Selected Entries’ button.

Other Notes

  • You can return to the Alder Administration screen by clicking on the ‘Return to Alder Admin’ button. Be sure to log off of Alder (using the ‘Logoff’ button).
  • You can edit your password and display name by clicking on the ‘Edit Profile’ button.
