Research Opportunities

Undergraduate Laboratory Assistant
The Gantt lab has a limited number of positions (both paid and volunteer) for undergraduates.  Work-study students are preferred for the paid positions, but this is not essential.

Undergraduates in the lab will be given opportunities to learn several techniques, including:

o PCR
o Gel Electrophoresis
o Cloning
o General Microbiology
o Sterile Technique

We emphasize learning not only the practical approaches of a modern molecular biology laboratory, but also the theory behind these techniques.

Students will also be required to participate in general lab maintenance (dishwashing, media preparation, preparation of sterile supplies, etc.).  Volunteers typically have more opportunities to learn molecular biology techniques, but we feel that skills like media preparation are essential too.

Contact Professor Gantt for information about positions.
