Proceeds from this auction will be used to renovate classrooms and buildings at the University of Minnesota’s Itasca Biological Station and Laboratories that are key to the training and research needs in ecology and aquatic biology.

Description: John Tester, wood carver. Fisherman and birdwatcher figures are done in the “flat-plane” style of folk art carving which developed in Sweden and Norway several hundred years ago. The flat surfaces created by the knife can be seen on the carving. No smoothing, rounding, or sanding is used. The 7-inch figures are carved in basswood and painted in acrylics. Description: 8" x 8" photographic print in a 16" x 20" frame by Tracy Anderson of the CBS Imaging Center. “Monster Cell” is a tissue culture cell that was triple-labelled. The green and red stains are of the cell’s cytoskeleton (actin and tubulin) and the blue is staining DNA. This cell is known as a monster cell because it has mutated, forming an abnormally large cell with two nuclei. Winner will pick up in person or pay shipping charges
