Technology Purchasing Services
Computers and other advanced mobile devices are tools required for all of us to accomplish our work. CBS-IT will help you select the right model, make the actual purchase, configure it to work on our network, and install common software packages. Whether you have basic or specialized scientific needs, we can usually acquire the appropriate hardware or software for you. We will also gladly work with scientific equipment vendors and technicians to ensure you are buying an appropriate machine required for your research. We provide a selection of pre-configured, standard options to make things easier, and often have them in stock in order to be able to deploy them at a moments notice. Please read below for more information.
CBS launched a new program for all technology purchasing in February of 2012.
The goal is to get the best machine that meets our customers needs, while allowing for better tracking, recycling and otherwise more efficient management of computers and technology-related items overall for the college.
What We Do
- Computer purchases including, but not limited to, Mac and PC systems, advanced mobile devices such as tablets running Apple iOS or Google's Android Platform, printers, software, network connected data storage devices (such as Apple time capsules) will be conducted by CBS-IT on behalf of our customers.
- System style, make and model is ultimately at the discretion of the customer but the purchase itself is to be conducted by CBS-IT.
- Provide a list of recommended Mac and PC computers and mobile devices as well as a one-on-one technology selection consulting service to help identify and configure the ideal computer or device for the customer’s needs.
- Conduct the purchase including billing and applying subsidies in concert with our customers.
- Provide better customer service and implement a computer lifecycle management system.
- Expand our technical support service window to 5 years for all newly purchased IT-recommended systems.
- Provide data migration service to your new computer within a much shorter timeframe.
- Please note: this change also is being implemented at the same time as our new central purchasing subsidy program. Please click the link in order to view more detailed information about the program.
- Linked below are the current recommended systems. Please be aware, however, that CBS-IT will always consult with you to best find the system that meets your needs most succinctly.
