Funding Opportunities in the Behavioral Sciences
The Leakey Foundation provides up to $12,000 for research in Primates/Anthropology. (Deadline: August 15 or January 5)
The Wenner-Gren Foundation provides up to $15,000 for research
in Primates/Anthropology. (Deadline: May 1 and November 1)
The Animal Behavior Society provides up to $1,000 for research
in animal behavior. (Deadline: January 25, 2002)
Grants and Fellowships for Women
The Association for Women in Science provides small grants of $1,000 for any aspect of graduate education.
The Minnesota Women’s Center offers
scholarships to women 28 years of age and older who are seeking a degree from
the University of Minnesota after a five year or longer break in their education.
The Louise T. Dosdall Fellowship,
mentioned above, provides one year tuition and stipend for a female graduate
student at the University of Minnesota in the sciences. (Deadline: December
1)
The American Association of University
Women (AAUW) provides $20,000 of support for the final year of
write-up of the thesis (deadline: November 15, 2002).
Grants for Language Training
Foreign
Language Area Studies provides summer or academic support study of
lesser studied languages. This is an especially good source of summer funding
for someone who does research abroad and wants to study the language.
