The EEB department, the Bell Museum, the Cedar Creek Natural History Area, the Itasaca Field Station, and the EEB Graduate Program administer a number of opportunities for fellowships and summer stipends.

The EEB Graduate Program administers the Block grant that provides limited funds for summer stipends and summer research support. The grant comes from the Graduate School. The amounts depend on the requests. An annual competition is held, deadlines and details are announced by the DGS of the EEB Graduate Program during the Spring term.

Occasionally, the EEB Department has funds available from the EEB Graduate Student Fund for support of student travel to professional meetings. If available, a competition is held; deadlines and details are announced by the DGS of the EEB Graduate Program.

The EEB department administers the Elmer C. Birney Fellowship, which carries a summer stipend equivalent to a 50% 3 month Research Assistantship. An annual competition is held, deadlines and details are announced by the DGS of the EEB Graduate Program during the Spring term.
