Research Interests

Aquatic biology, specifically applications of telemetry to free ranging fish, ecological genetics of zooplankton and environmental monitoring

Statement

Each summer I co-teach the Telemetry/Animal Behavior course to advanced undergraduate students, and several sections of our introductory course entitled: Nature of Life, to first-year College of Biological Science students at the Itasca Biological Station and Laboratories (IBSL).In addition to my own teaching and research interests in aquatic biology, I coordinate and provide logistic support for all of the field biology coursework and research conducted at IBSL. We actively cooperate with Minnesota Department of Natural Resource’s Division of Parks on teaching and research plots in Itasca State Park. I direct the lake monitoring portion of the Itasca Park environmental monitoring program. As associate program director I am closely involved with developing the curricula for the College of Biological Science’s program in Field Biology as well as hosting a wide variety of programs from throughout the University of Minnesota and other regional academic, scientific and environmental organizations.
