Welcome to the CBS Student Board Website!

The mission of the CBS Student Board is to build community within the College of Biological Sciences by bridging the gap between CBS students and faculty, uniting the CBS student organizations so that the ideas and concerns of the entire student body are heard, and to inform students of opportunities such as research and community service that will allow them to enrich their college experience.

On behalf of the 2011-2012 CBS Student Board I hope this website will be a vital resource for you as a CBS Student by providing you with the information necessary to be involved with the Student Board and become an integral part of the CBS community.

One of the best ways to be involved with the CBS community is by attending CBS Student Board events, and you can learn about all of the upcoming events by visiting the Calendar  or Events  pages.  You are also welcome to join our weekly meetings held at 4:45 P.M. on Wednesdays in Coffman Memorial Union, with the room number listed on the calendar.  We will publish our meeting agenda  and minutes  on a weekly basis so you can learn about the goings on of the CBS Student Board even if you are unable to come to meetings.  If you would like to learn more about this year’s Student Board, visit the Board Members  page; you are always welcome to approach a board member to convey any questions, thoughts, or comments you might have for us.

You can also find a description of and directions to BioCommons , a list of student organizations  associated with the College of Biological Sciences, and a link to the BioBlog , which provides current news and information from all over CBS.  In addition, be sure to learn more about CBS professors by visiting Under the Microscope , which spotlights a faculty member on a monthly basis.  Finally, CBS student groups seeking funding for their events can visit the Grant Applications  page to find the CBS Student Board Grant Application.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or issues you would like to bring to our attention, please e-mail us at cbssb@umn.edu or me personally at pundi002@umn.edu.  We look forward to seeing you at future CBS Student Board meetings and events.  Best wishes for the year ahead!
