An exchange
procedure for the regulatory light chain of skeletal muscle myosin:
Measuring ATPase
activity as an indicator of restored muscle function
Abstract
A procedure for
successfully extracting the regulatory light chain (RLC) of
skeletal muscle myosin
and reconstituting it with modified RLC would enable
new research for
understanding structural changes that occur during muscle
contraction. This
work describes an exchange procedure showing promising
results as measured
by calcium dependence of ATPase activity on homogenized
myofibrils that muscle function is restored compared to the control.
