WELCOME FROM DEAN ELDE

Welcome to the College of Biological Sciences. I'm glad you've stopped by our website, and I hope you'll take a few moments to explore these pages and learn more about us.

CBS is one of only a few colleges nationwide that focus exclusively on biological sciences. Our research and education programs, which span molecules to ecosystems, are aimed at improving human health and quality of life, and providing food and energy for the Earth's growing population without depleting ecosystems.

If you're a prospective student, you have picked a good time to consider CBS. Our undergraduate program is the result of 15 years of continuous innovation to improve the quality of faculty, research, curriculum and the student experience. And our graduate programs offer you opportunities to be mentored by scientists who are at the top of their fields.

CBS classes and research take place in cutting-edge facilities on the Twin Cities campus, including the new Science Teaching and Student Services building in Minneapolis, and living laboratories from the headwaters of the Mississippi to the rain forests of Central America.

Students tell me they like CBS because it's a small, friendly college in a big university and because we provide opportunities to learn by doing in faculty research labs. To learn more about CBS degree programs, go to CBS Majors or Student Services.
