Biocatalysis and Biodegradation
Spring Semester, 2009

What does Biocatalysis and Biodegradation 5309 address?

Students will learn microbial catabolic metabolism, how to use the University of Minnesota Biocatalysis/Biodegradation Database (UM-BBD) and related Internet resources for microbial biotechnology, and how to author World Wide Web pages. Under the supervision of the instructors, students will verify and update existing Web pages in this database and develop Web pages on microbial catabolic metabolism of environmental pollutants. If the pages meet standards, they will be added to the UM-BBD, owned by the University of Minnesota. A computer capable of running Windows or a Macintosh, a direct or modem Internet connection, and a World Wide Web browser, version 2.0 or higher (available at no cost from the course Web site), are required. Students will not be able to work on this in University of Minnesota campus computer lab.
